We remain isolated within the algorithm that feeds our minds while starving our souls with shallow thought. Technology has reduced us to nothing more than another data point to fuel the machine that enslaves us. Yet, this same technology gives us unprecedented access to the wisdom of the past, to the giants upon whose shoulder we were meant to stand not be crushed beneath.

Metanoia Research is one man's attempt to think seriously in public over a long period of time. Not a news site. Not a think tank. A sustained inquiry into how civilizations are built, how they fail, and what the soul has to do with both.

The work moves through ancient history and philosophy from Assyria to our modern era, through Catholic theology and Divine Providence, through the lived experience of suffering, conversion and sacrificial love. It is grounded in the conviction that mathematical and economic failures are always preceded by the spiritual failure of the soul.

The dispatches are published monthly. They are meant to be read slowly.

Justin Theriot is a Lead Data Scientist and quantitative risk modeler. He holds Master's degrees in Applied Economics and International Relations. He teaches theology and philosophy at his Church in Louisiana. He is a devout Catholic, a husband, and a father.
